 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Where are your products made?
All Originals are painted by Mike Ginn in Grahamstown, South Africa. Both Original paintings and Limited Signed Copies are produced on extremely high quality, acid free artist paper. Mike's paintings are extremely detailed and typically take him 80 hours to complete. Merchandise featuring Mike's images (Canvas Prints, Coffee Mugs, Poster Prints etc) is produced on demand by 3rd party producers and sent directly to you. The 3rd party producers are generally in the local geography where the order is generated.
  • When can I expect my purchase to arrive?
Orders for available Orginal Paintings and Limited Signed Copies are typically posted within five working days. From there, shipping time will depend on your location, but as a general rule, expect 10 days for South African addresses and up to a month for overseas orders. Due to issues with mail security in South Africa, all orders are sent via couriers with tracking numbers. Commissioned paintings will depend on Mike's workload; as a general rule, please allow one to two months. However, this will depend on Mike's workload at the time.
  • Can I commission an original painting from Mike?
Yes! Mike loves painting and is happy to discuss commissions. If you'd like Mike to paint a particular animal or building, you will need to be able to provide high-quality photographs of the subject. Commissions are completed on high-quality acid free artist paper and typically take one to two months, with some variations depending on size and complexity and Mike's workload. To find out more, please email Mike at "mikeginn.art@gmail.com" with the subject line "Commission".
  • Why aren't Originals available as Merchandise?
Generally, the Original and Limited signed Editions are just that - Limited! They are exclusive and that is why they are more expensive. There are a few exceptions where the owner of the Original painting has given permission for Merchandise to be produced.
  • Why are the Merchandise products quoted in Australian dollars?
This website was developed for Mike by friends in Sydney Australia, who are at best beginner website designers! The Merchandise Art Store uses 3rd party product providers around the world. Unfortunately this software does not offer South African Rands, so it was decided to use Australian dollars (AUD). PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase merchandise in Aus dollars, using a non-Australian card, your financial provider will convert the dollar amount to Rand at the current exchange rate.
  • May I make copies of a painting I buy?
Unfortunately NO! Artists automatically retain the copyright of any work they produce, regardless of whether the work is sold or commissioned. Copyright can only be transferred to another person or organisation by express written permission from Mike.
